The State of NJ imposes a transfer fee on the seller of real estate at various rates
These rates are based upon the sale price as well as the seller's exemption status.
A partial exemption from the realty transfer fee may apply for senior citizens, blind/disabled persons, and low and moderate income housing.
In addition to the seller's transfer fee, the buyer must pay a 1 percent fee on transactions over $1,000,000 for commercial and residential properties.
