For the most part, the larger a municipality's population, the bigger the statistical sample size, which results in more accurate estimates and a lower margin of error.

For instance, Scranton, one the more populated cities in Pennsylvania, has a margin of error of $21 for the estimated rental cost of $933. Whereas Dalton, a borough with a population of roughly 1,300, has an estimated average rental cost of $1,463 with a margin of error of $436.

By sorting the table of rent prices below by the Margin of Error column, it's evident the smaller error margins are usually found for the largest cities in Pennsylvania, like Philadelphia, Erie, Allentown, and Pittsburgh.

Conversely, the error margins for towns and borough with less residents tend to be greater than those of cities.

The data here is for comparison of rental prices in various Pennsylvania municipalities.
